Judge Jan Paulsson elected new President of the Tribunal
On 4 November 2005, the last day of their autumn session in Washington, DC, the members of the World Bank Administrative Tribunal elected Judge Jan Paulsson to the Presidency of the Tribunal. Judge Paulsson, a dual Swedish/French national, a graduate of Harvard College (1971), Yale Law School (1975) and the University of Paris (1977), has been a judge with the Tribunal since 1999. He is the President of the London Court of International Arbitration. He is the head of the international arbitration and public international law groups of the law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and is a member of the Paris Bar. He is a Professor of International Investment Law at the Centre of Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law & Policy at the University of Dundee. He has presided arbitral tribunals constituted under the auspices of the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) and he has been either counsel or arbitrator in more than 400 international arbitration proceedings.
